The Mize Family Foundation funds organizations implementing one or more of the following strategies:
We fund grassroots community projects focused on health, education, and environmental rights, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. These can include organizations that work in land rights, agricultural sustainability, women’s rights and leadership, and citizens’ legal rights in areas threatened by extraction.
In light of the increasing dangers that human rights defenders face throughout the globe, we fund organizations that work to provide activists with paths to safety for them and their families, opportunities to rest and re-energize, as well as resources to continue their work.
Proposals are accepted by invitation only.
Grant cycles are for one calendar year. At this time, MFF does not fund multi-year grants; however, at the discretion of the MFF Board, organizations may be invited to submit a proposal for subsequent years in a row.
